Doncaster is a town located in northeastern England and has a population of about 70,000 people.

The town of Doncaster is part of the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster, one of four boroughs of the ceremonial County South Yorkshire. Overall, the borough of Doncaster consists of dozens of communities and has about 300,000 residents, and the county of South Yorkshire has a population of about 1.3 million, the 10th largest in England. Doncaster borders nearby Sheffield, one of the largest cities in England with over 500,000 people.

The Doncaster railway station is located along the East Coast Main Line, which runs from Scotland to London and other major destinations along the way.

Professional team of Doncaster Rovers Football Club compete in league one(third tier of English Football) and play at the 15,000 capacity Keepmoat Stadium. The Doncaster Rovers Belles Ladies Football Club are one of England’s most successful women’s clubs and share the venue with the men’s team. Other notable sports venues include Doncaster Racecourse.

The main higher education school of the town is Doncaster College, serving more than 20,000 students and employing more than 1,000 staff.

A large retail industry of Doncaster exists in Frenchgate Centre, a shopping centre located at the heart of the town.
